'twas the night before

Yodie has been packed off the catty prison, the bags are packed, the fridge is empty and we're finally ready for take off.

We're kind of old hands at long term travel now, so it has been quite easy getting organised. Perhaps a bit too easy, you know that slight, nagging feeling "what have I forgotten?".

Oh well, it's not like we're going to the Outer Hebrides, whatever has been forgotten, can surely be found in the wilds of Singapore.

We have five days in Singapore, before we reach Tioman Island. I get the impression Tioman is going to be quite basic, but it's a duty free island so it must have all the important essentials.

We managed to get all our gear into our hand luggage. Even down to limited potions and lotions. Will be interesting to see who cracks first and buys something new to wear.

Sunshine, humidity and chicken rice here we come.....

They're off again....sigh

The big pack.....

So we have the luggage - it's small, extremely small -  now........ the big clothes debate. 7 kilos of hand luggage - it's not much!

Fortunately, Curtin renewed my contract to work externally, so I will be taking my lap top and business cards (there goes 2 kilos!). I'll be taking a work break from the holiday for a quick trip to India. Good excuse to buy some new clothes in KL, so I look at least a bit professional.

Just over a week to go. Still looking forward to some lovely warm weather, chicken rice, warm weather, murtabaks, warm weather, beach, warm weather, oh and mustn't forget the occasional massage.

Haven't told Yodie yet, but I think she is getting suspicious......One week to go....
Are you packing again?

Pre holiday dreams/plans

We are just putting together out itinerary for our holiday this year (we have holiday of the year as opposed to holiday of a lifetime, 'cos we're smug so and so's).

We are going with hand luggage only this time....

We had such a great holiday in Sri Lanka that we
have decided we really like an unstructured itinerary, so we are planning to fly to Singapore, train up to Melaka and KL and then decide where to from there.

The rough plan is Korea, Japan, Vietnam and ending with a week in good 'ol Lombok. However we may include Penang, Langkawi, Koh Samui and maybe Bangkok if the mood (or need for beach) strikes us.

Anyway as I write this it is the end of April, so I'm still working full time at Curtin until the end of June. I have one long trip left to Nigeria and Botswana then it should be all over Red Rover!!
